Tempo Queer - JUNE 2023
CALL OUT FOR Expressions of interest from LGBTIQ+ composers living in Merri-bek
Pianist and Artistic Director Coady Green is launching the second Tempo Queer residency at Tempo Rubato in June 2023. The residency has been generously supported by Merri-bek Council, with a Flourish Arts Grant. The Tempo Queer residency will see five renowned LGBTIQ+ artists or groups curating five recitals on the five Fridays in June, celebrating LGBTIQ+ composers and culture from around the world: Coady Green, Miranda Hill, Leigh Harrold, Kyla Matsuura- Miller, and the Divisi Chamber Singers.
There is funding to provide two commissions of $750 each for two short new works by local LGBTIQ+ composers, to be performed as part of the festival. New works are encouraged to have the theme of LGBTIQ+ celebration.
EOIs are encouraged specifically from LGBTIQ+ composers living in the Merri-bek Council. Works of up to 10 minutes duration are encouraged, for one of the following instruments/instrument combinations:
solo piano
solo violin
piano and violin
solo double-bass
double-bass and piano
piano duet (four hands on one piano)
piano and chamber choir (six singers, soprano, alto, tenor, bass)
EOIs should include a composer biography, description of proposed new work, and examples of previous work.
Applications must be sent to Artistic Director Coady Green at coadygreen@gmail.com by April 30, 2023.
