ABOUT YARRA ARTS TRIO

After years of throwing her heart and soul into accompanying Melbourne’s top Certificate and University students, Edith Ellis has transferred all this passion into the highly collaborative and democratic Yarra Arts Trio. Joined by Anna Daniel and Shelley Heath, two outstanding teachers and musicians, this ensemble has wowed audiences with their unique style and presentation of the best of the Piano Trio repertoire. In 2022 the trio has raised over $15,000 for charities including Tonga, Ukraine and Breast Cancer.

ABOUT EDITH ELLIS

Edith studied piano with Ronald Farren Price and graduated from Melbourne University. She has had a long career teaching music in schools including Head of Keyboard at PLC for 26 years. Her piano highlights include performances of the Warsaw Concerto, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and the Grieg, Mozart (No 21) and Mendelssohn Concertos with orchestras around Australia. Her outstanding skills at accompanying have enabled approximately 70 LMusA and over 100 AMusA violin students receive their diplomas – a remarkable achievement! Edith’s church is fortunate to have her actively involved as choir leader and accompanist on piano and organ. When Edith is not playing the piano she is rearing an exuberant Labrador puppy called Bella.

About Anna Daniel

Anna is a VCA, Melbourne University performance graduate. Anna has performed as a freelance cellist since the 1980s, performing with the Australian Pops Orchestra, The Melbourne Musicians, Melbourne Theatre Company as soloist, and Orchestra Victoria and other ensembles. Anna has also held senior teaching roles including Head of Strings at Lauriston Girls School and Yarra Valley Grammar and Head of Cello at Loreto Mandeville Hall. She is an examiner for the AMEB and a VCAA assessor. Anna runs a busy Private Studio, teaching beginner cellists through to Diploma level. Anna enjoys sharing her passion for the cello and her love of music with her students.

About Shelley Heath

Shelley heath has been performing and teaching in Melbourne for the past 35 years. She has played extensively with The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, including a tour of Japan and South Korea, and has performed seasons with the State Orchestra of Victoria, The Orchestra of St. Pauls and The Australian Pops Orchestra. Recently this involved an Australia New Zealand wide tour with Andrea Bocelli and Delta Goodrem. As a teacher Shelley has been Head of Strings at Wesley College and Yarra Valley Grammar, and has composed and arranged pedagogic material for her students. She currently has a full private studio and examines for the AMEB. Her hobbies include gardening, tennis, cycling, windsurfing, skiing, bushwalking and playing chamber music.
