ABout SOUND TAPESTRY: DRONE

Bring your preferred instrument. This could be something you are just getting into or something you are familiar with. It could also be your voice.

We each pick a note and hold it / repeat for an hour. Together.

You are welcome to take momentary rests throughout and continue holding space.

You can also just come and listen if you prefer. It is a very peaceful experience.

This session is about simplicity, reciprocity and inclusivity. It is a meditation. All are welcome.

About DRONES:

Drones are used for various reasons: as a reference to tune instruments, and in healing practices to tune the self. Drones follow us around everyday and are a product of repetition, like the whirling of a fan or cars on a freeway. The practice and creation of organic drones are a part of many cultures, especially Sur Sadhana' from Indian classical music. This is a dedication to a single note that seeks to generate a deeper relationship with sound, discovering as many ways as possible to approach its delivery. The process also recognises the impossibility of true monotony. This idea allows practitioners to better understand some of the physics of sound, and simply to explore oneself with the other.

This series will run monthly accompanied by an image series of gates rendered by Felix Garner Davis [also happens to be the author of a poetry book titled drone recently published with no more poetry.]

Entry is $11. You can get a ticket here.
