About GABBY HALLORAN
Gabby Halloran grew up in Melbourne, studying viola with Rosia Pasteur and Lawrie Jacks (VCA). She then gained a place at the renowned Mozarteum Salzburg, studying with Thomas Riebl. During her time in Salzburg, Gabby performed with chamber groups in Paris and Wien, and was tutored by the Hagen String Quartet. In 1993 Gabby became a member of the MSO viola section and relishes the challenges and thrills of orchestral life. Gabby regularly performs with MSO Chamber Players, Ensemble Varie and Team of Pianists, and also enjoys teaching at VCASS.
ABOUT ROBERT SCHUBERT
Robert studied in Australia with Isobel Carter-Stockigt and Phillip Miechel, then in North America with Canadian soloist James Campbell and Larry Combs, Principal Clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As Principal Clarinet with Hiroyuki Iwaki’s Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, he can be heard on the Deutsche Grammophon, Victor and Sony labels. His CDs of Julian Yu’s music, China Wind and Old and Yu have received critical acclaim and much new music has been written for him by composers including Julian Yu, Mark Pollard, Tetsuya Nishibe, David Canfield, Houston Dunleavy and Dindy Vaughn. Robert has performed with the Melbourne Symphony, Orchestra Victoria and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and in Festivals both at home and abroad.
Until 2017 Robert held the position of lecturer in Woodwind (since 1996) and the Alexander Technique (since 2008) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
About AKEMI SCHUBERT
Pianist Akemi Schubert is a sought- after soloist, chamber musician and teacher. She has performed solo and chamber music concerts in Japan and many other countries. Akemi studied in Tokyo and Chicago before settling in Melbourne. She has been invited to perform in Japan annually since 2016, recently receiving an outstanding review in the Japanese classical music magazine “Chopin".
